
Dana Walsh Sivak, Esq. is an associate attorney at Genser Dubow Genser & Cona. Ms. Sivak concentrates her practice in the health care facility representation practice group, devoting her time to litigation, guardianships, complex Medicaid eligibility issues, Fair Hearings and other matters related to health care facility residents’ financial accounts.
Prior to joining GDGC, Ms. Sivak served as a law clerk in the Legal Affairs Department of Catholic Health Services of Long Island where she worked directly for the General Counsel. As a student attorney at St. John’s University School of Law Child Advocacy Clinic, Ms. Sivak represented children in the New York City foster care system in child protection and neglect cases. Her creative strategies to overcome obstacles on behalf of her clients earned her the CALI Award for Excellence and the St. Vincent DePaul Legal Program Award for the most outstanding overall contributions to clients at the clinic in 2011. As an advocate and coordinator of the Courtroom Advocates Project, Ms. Sivak advocated in Family Court for victims of domestic violence.
Ms. Sivak also has extensive experience in the District Attorney’s office, working in both the New York County DA’s Office as well as the Queens County DA’s Office. Ms. Sivak is a state certified Court Evaluator, Counsel for Alleged Incapacitated Persons and Guardian for Incapacitated Persons.
Ms. Sivak earned her Juris Doctor Degree from St. John’s University School of Law where she also received the CALI Award for Excellence. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree magna cum laude from St. John’s University where she earned a spot on the Dean’s List each semester. Ms. Sivak was a member of the College of Professional Studies Honor Society and the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
For the past 16 years, Dana has participated in fundraising activities for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was honored with the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. She also works with many animal rescue groups.
