Free Elder Care Conference: What Human Resource Professionals and Business Owners Need to Know to Maintain the Bottom Line and Retain Employees

As more employees struggle with caring for elderly loved ones, employers need to address this complex issue to maintain their valued workers and the bottom line.  It is estimated that elder caregiving costs employers an estimated $ 33.8 billion annually in lost productivity.

A free HR Conference entitled “Elder Caregiving: Is It Sapping Your Employees and Your Bottom Line?” will give human resource professionals and business owners valuable tools and techniques to help reduce absenteeism, downtime and turnover and promote productivity and job security.

Ms. O’Donnell will moderate the panel discussion and provide real life situations as examples to help increase awareness of what the HR professional and business owner can do to coach the employee, make temporary adjustments in their responsibilities as well as bringing in experts, programs and services.

Melissa Negrin-Wiener, Esq., Elder Law Attorney and Partner, Cona Elder Law, Melville, will present what working caregivers need to know to protect themselves and their aging loved ones, such as available caregiver resources, asset protection planning, legal documents, estate planning, Medicaid planning and eligibility, Veterans benefits and more.

Jim Hoolihan, Custodial Care Financial Specialist of Employee Care Resources will discuss current and projected costs for elder care in the New York area, payment sources available, pros and cons of different tools to lower the costs associated with eldercare and more.
