Cona Elder Law Volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

Cona Elder Law, ELDER LAW FIRM, VOLUNTEERS TO COOK DINNER FOR FAMILIES AT THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

When managing partner Jennifer Cona and staff of Cona Elder Law, an elder law and estate planning firm based in Melville, are not helping their clients, they will often be found volunteering  to help those in need.  Recently, ten Cona Elder Law staff members cooked up a taco dinner for nearly 100 people residing at The Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park, a home away from home for families of seriously ill children.

“We were so grateful for the delicious meal prepared by Cona Elder Law for the families here at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island,” said Matthew Campo, President, Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.  “All of our residents were so in need of a home-cooked meal to help alleviate the stress of being at the hospital all day, and we are so appreciative of the firm’s generosity in answering this meaningful call.”

Cona Elder Law prepared 30 pounds of ground beef and turkey along with vegetables, taco shells and salad.  The dinner also included cheese, salsa and an assortment of desserts.  Cona Elder Law supplied all ingredients at a cost of about $300.

“Everyone at Cona Elder Law loves doing good deeds in our community and we like to participate as a team,” said Jennifer Cona, Esq., managing partner, Cona Elder Law.  “We like to roll up our sleeves and see the impact we are making.  At the Ronald McDonald House, we got a real sense of the families in need and felt like we were making a difference.”

Paralegal Deirdre Savino from Centerport, appreciated the opportunity to volunteer and help the families who are going through such a difficult time with their children. “It really puts things in perspective,” said Deirdre who has two children ages 21 and 17.  When seeking employment, she wanted to work for a firm like Cona Elder Law because it is so focused and active in community service.

A home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary year of keeping families close, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is the 100th House of over 300 Ronald McDonald House programs worldwide. This is only possible because of the generosity of the community. For 30 years, RMH-LI has been a home-away-from-home for over 20,000 families in the United States and more than 80 countries around the world who are dealing with the pain of having a child undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
