Nominations Now Accepted for Working Caregiver of the Year

Cona Elder Law, a leading Melville, LI elder law and estate planning firm, is sponsoring the third annual free Caregiver Conference. It will be held on Tuesday, June 9th from 6 PM – 9 PM at the Hofstra University Club, Hofstra University in Hempstead.

This year, the focus is Elder Care Conversations: Keys to Effective Family Communication. As parents age and need care, studies show that 40% of adult children experience serious disputes with their siblings regarding their parents’ care. Adding second marriages and blended families to the scenario and there are potentially explosive and destructive family conflicts.

Attendees will get tips and practical advice for addressing the issues that arise when caring for ill, elderly or disabled older adults, and effective communication strategies to address these issues in a valuable and constructive way.

The evening begins with an Exhibitor Expo, reception and book signing with Barbara Speedling, author of “Why is Grandma Screaming”.  Registration is required by contacting Bonnie Mattessich at 631-390-5000 or RSVP@conalaw.com.

Melissa Negrin-Wiener, partner Cona Elder Law and advanced elder law mediator, will discuss: Keeping Families Together in the Face of an Elder Care Crisis
