Legal Alert Managed Medicaid Provider GuildNet Not Accepting New Patients on Long Island

GuildNet, a Medicaid provider of long-term care, has announced that it will no longer accept new enrollees from Suffolk, Nassau and Westchester Counties. (Newsday)

This may well be a portent of things to come. According to GuildNet, under Managed Medicaid, the reimbursement rate is too low to sustain care to patients and too low to pay health care workers. GuildNet is the first to stop accepting new patients but other managed Medicaid providers may follow suit.  This may prove to be a critical juncture for Long Island’s elderly and a sign of the deteriorating managed Medicaid system in New York.

Current GuildNet Enrollees:
Current clients enrolled with GuildNet for managed Medicaid services will continue to receive care and services and will not be impacted by this change.

Pending Applications:
If you are currently in the process of applying for Medicaid benefits and enrolling in a managed Medicaid long-term care plan, you will need to choose another managed care provider.  Contact us if we can assist you in making your selection.
